Suspect Arrested, Four Fatally Stabbed in Manhattan Knife Attacks

Following a string of deadly knife attacks in Manhattan on Saturday, the New York Police Department (NYPD) has taken a suspect into custody. Four individuals were fatally stabbed, and two others were injured in the random attacks that occurred at various locations throughout the city’s Upper East Side.

At Least Four Dead in Manhattan Stabbing Spree

The suspect, identified as Rodolfo Soto, was apprehended near the scene of the final attack. Police recovered a large kitchen knife believed to be the weapon used in the stabbings. Soto has been charged with murder and attempted murder and is expected to face additional charges as the investigation continues. The motive behind the attacks remains unclear.

The victims were identified as Timothy Caughman, 62; Nicholas Figueroa, 19; Jesus Cortes, 56; and Ismael Ponce, 22. Two other individuals, a 44-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man, were injured in the attacks and are in stable condition at a local hospital.

The attacks sent shockwaves through the Manhattan community, with residents and officials expressing both horror and condolences. Mayor Eric Adams condemned the violence, saying the city would not tolerate such senseless acts. The NYPD has increased police presence in the affected areas and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
