Texas Rio Grande Valley Hoops to Face Wisconsin in NCAA Tournament
RGV Vaqueros earn NCAA Tournament berth
The Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's basketball team has earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament after winning the Western Athletic Conference tournament championship on Saturday, March 12th, 2023.
The Vaqueros, who are making their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2019, will face the Wisconsin Badgers, the Big Ten Conference tournament champions, in the first round of the tournament.
Vaqueros enter tournament with momentum
The Vaqueros enter the NCAA Tournament with a 23-10 record and have won their last six games. Led by WAC Player of the Year Jordan Myers, the Vaqueros are a high-scoring team that averages 82.1 points per game.
The Badgers, meanwhile, are 26-7 this season and have won eight of their last nine games. They are led by senior guard Johnny Davis, who is a candidate for the National Player of the Year award.
Matchup to watch between Myers and Davis
The matchup between Myers and Davis will be one of the most intriguing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Both players are capable of putting up big numbers, and it will be interesting to see who can come out on top in this high-scoring affair.
