Criminals Extorted Money from Business Owners

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained a criminal group in Dnipro that was involved in racketeering. The group was led by a local deputy, according to the SBU.

The SBU alleges that the group extorted money from business owners in the city. The group threatened violence and property damage if the businesses did not pay up.

Group Leader is Local Deputy

The SBU identified the leader of the group as a local deputy named Oleksandr Zaichenko. Zaichenko is a member of the Opposition Bloc party.

The SBU said that Zaichenko used his position as a deputy to intimidate business owners and force them to pay protection money.

Multiple Arrests Made

The SBU has arrested several members of the group, including Zaichenko. The SBU is continuing its investigation and expects to make more arrests.

The SBU said that the arrests are part of a larger crackdown on organized crime in Dnipro.
