Poland maintains 100% record after impressive win in Warsaw
Warsaw, Poland - The Poland national football team secured a berth in the UEFA Nations League finals after defeating Scotland 2-0 in their final group stage match on Tuesday.
Poland, who had already qualified for the semifinals, finished top of Group B4 with a perfect record of four wins from four matches. Scotland, meanwhile, finished bottom of the group with just one point from their four games.
Goals from Piatek and Milik seal victory for Poland
Poland took the lead in the 27th minute when Krzysztof Piatek headed home from close range after a cross from Robert Lewandowski. Lewandowski then turned provider in the 54th minute, setting up Arkadiusz Milik to score from just outside the box.
Scotland had chances to get back into the game, but they were unable to find a way past Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, who made several impressive saves to keep his clean sheet intact.
Poland to face either the Netherlands or Belgium in the semifinals
Poland will now face either the Netherlands or Belgium in the semifinals of the UEFA Nations League finals, which will be held in June 2023. The Netherlands and Belgium are set to meet in the other semifinal on Wednesday.
