But Zielinski has insisted that he has no regrets about taking the selfie, and that he is a big fan of Ronaldo.
"I'm a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo," Zielinski said. "He's one of the best players in the world, and I was just happy to get a photo with him.
"I know some people have criticized me for taking the photo, but I don't care. I'm not going to apologize for being a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo."
Zielinski's decision to take the selfie with Ronaldo has divided opinion among Poland fans.
Some fans have criticized Zielinski for taking the photo, arguing that it was disrespectful to his teammates and the Poland fans.
Other fans have defended Zielinski, arguing that he is a big fan of Ronaldo and that there is nothing wrong with taking a photo with him.
Poland manager Czeslaw Michniewicz has also defended Zielinski, saying that he does not see anything wrong with taking a photo with Ronaldo.
"I don't see anything wrong with Piotr taking a photo with Cristiano Ronaldo," Michniewicz said.
"He's a big fan of Ronaldo, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that."
Portugal's 6-1 victory over Poland was their biggest win in the Nations League.
Ronaldo scored twice in the match, taking his tally to 117 goals for Portugal.
Poland are now bottom of Group A3 in the Nations League, with just one point from their first three matches.
They will face Italy in their next match on September 22.
