Morocco qualifies for AFCON 2024

Lesotho defeated 2-1 in Maseru

Morocco's national football team has qualified for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after defeating Lesotho 2-1 in Maseru on Saturday.

The victory sees Morocco finish top of Group J with 13 points, three points ahead of second-placed South Africa. Lesotho finished bottom of the group with just one point.

Morocco will now join 23 other teams in the AFCON finals, which will be held in Cameroon from June 23 to July 23, 2024.

Morocco has a strong record in the AFCON, having won the tournament once in 1976. They have also finished runners-up twice and third once.

The Atlas Lions will be hoping to improve on their performance at the 2023 AFCON, where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Egypt.
