Miami Heat's Herro, Adebayo Unhappy with Coach Spoelstra After Loss
Heat Stars Express Frustration Over Coach's Late Timeout
Miami Heat stars Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo have expressed their frustration with head coach Erik Spoelstra's late timeout during the team's 116-105 loss to the Detroit Pistons.
With just over a minute remaining in the game and the Heat trailing by seven points, Spoelstra called a timeout to set up a play. However, the timeout proved costly as the Pistons were able to inbound the ball and score an easy layup.
Herro, who led the Heat with 28 points, was particularly critical of Spoelstra's decision.
"We had a chance to get a stop and cut the lead to five," Herro said. "But that timeout gave them a free chance to score and put the game away."
Adebayo agreed with Herro, saying that he felt the timeout disrupted the Heat's momentum.
"We were playing well defensively and had them on their heels," Adebayo said. "But that timeout gave them a chance to regroup and get organized."
Spoelstra defended his decision to call the timeout, saying that he felt the Heat needed to stop the Pistons' momentum.
"I thought we needed to get a stop and set up a play to get a good shot," Spoelstra said. "But obviously, it didn't work out the way we wanted it to."
The Heat's loss dropped them to 29-26 on the season. They are currently in sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
