Cooper Rush Intercepts Peyton Manning, Leads Cowboys Past Texans 20-17 on Monday Night Football

Rush Shines in First NFL Start as Cowboys Improve to 1-1

Cooper Rush threw for 212 yards and a touchdown, including a game-winning 28-yard strike to Amari Cooper with just over a minute remaining, as the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Houston Texans 20-17 on Monday Night Football.

Rush, making his first NFL start in place of the injured Dak Prescott, completed 24 of 40 passes and led the Cowboys on a 10-play, 75-yard drive in the final minutes to secure the victory.

The touchdown to Cooper was Rush's first career game-winning drive.

Texans Fall to 0-2 Despite Mills' Strong Performance

The Texans, who fell to 0-2 on the season, were led by quarterback Davis Mills, who threw for 310 yards and a touchdown.

Mills also threw two interceptions, including one to Rush in the end zone late in the fourth quarter that set up the Cowboys' game-winning drive.

The Texans had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but Ka'imi Fairbairn's 62-yard field goal attempt was wide left.

Rush Impresses in Prescott's Absence

Rush's performance was a pleasant surprise for the Cowboys, who were without Prescott, who is recovering from a thumb injury.

The 27-year-old Rush, who had previously only played in relief of Prescott, showed poise and accuracy throughout the game.

His touchdown pass to Cooper was a perfect throw and displayed his ability to make big plays under pressure.

Cowboys Defense Steps Up

The Cowboys defense also played a key role in the victory, forcing four turnovers, including three interceptions.

Trevon Diggs had two interceptions, including one in the end zone in the first quarter, and Anthony Brown also had an interception in the end zone in the fourth quarter.

The Cowboys defense held the Texans to just 17 points and forced three punts in the second half.

Looking Ahead

The Cowboys will host the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday, while the Texans will travel to face the Carolina Panthers.

The Cowboys will be looking to continue their momentum with Rush at quarterback, while the Texans will be hoping to get their first win of the season.
