Sophomore Powers Liberty to 4-0 Start
Liberty's run-and-shoot offense rolled up a school-record 641 yards of total offense, including 347 rushing yards, Saturday to fuel a 41-14 win over Gardner-Webb in front of 16,411 fans at Williams Stadium.
Quarterback Carlton Carrington posted his second-straight 100-yard rushing game with a career-best 188 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries, becoming the first Liberty quarterback to rush for 100 yards in consecutive games since Chris Turner in 1993.
He also completed 14-of-19 passes for 294 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown strike to Demario Douglas, to finish the game with 482 yards of total offense.
