Asheville Potable Water Returns, Boil Water Notice Lifted
Water Quality Restored After Brief Contamination
City Officials Reassure Safety of Tap Water
Asheville residents can breathe a sigh of relief as the city's potable water supply has been restored, and the boil water notice issued last week has been lifted. The announcement came after extensive testing confirmed that the water meets all safety standards and is safe for consumption.
The boil water notice was issued on July 12th after a water main break contaminated the water supply with E.coli bacteria. The city immediately took steps to isolate the affected area and issue the notice to residents in the affected neighborhoods.
Over the past week, the city has worked diligently to repair the water main, flush the system, and conduct extensive water quality testing. The results of these tests have all come back negative for E.coli or any other harmful bacteria.
City officials are confident that the water supply is now safe for drinking, cooking, and bathing. They urge residents to resume their normal water usage and discard any water that was boiled during the boil water notice.
"We understand that this has been a stressful time for our residents," said Mayor Esther Manheimer. "We want to thank them for their patience and cooperation during this process. We also want to commend our city workers for their tireless efforts to restore our water supply and ensure the safety of our community."
The city will continue to monitor the water quality closely in the coming days and weeks. Residents are encouraged to contact the city's water department with any questions or concerns.
