Zone defense potentially in store as Arkansas basketball hosts Pacific
Hogs could go to zone more often against smaller Tigers
FAYETTEVILLE -- Eric Musselman wasn't shy about using his 3-2 zone defense against North Carolina-Greensboro a week ago in Walton Arena.
The Razorbacks used it for the final 10 minutes of the first half against UNCG and the first six minutes of the second half, and it helped them turn a 1-point lead into a 15-point advantage.
So it's certainly possible the Hogs could use it again Saturday against Pacific.
Tigers have faced zone before, had success against it
The Tigers, who are 2-3 this season, have faced zone defenses twice this season, and they defeated Montana 99-73 and lost to Fresno State 82-74.
Pacific Coach Leonard Perry said his team is not intimidated by zone defenses.
"Our guys are comfortable with it," Perry said. "We've got guards who can make plays and handle the ball. I think we move it well."
