The Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team clinched the Big Ten championship outright on Sunday, February 26, 2023, with a 64-51 victory over the Michigan Wolverines at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Badgers secured the title with two games remaining in the regular season. They improved to 14-4 in conference play and 23-6 overall. Michigan dropped to 11-7 in the Big Ten and 17-12 overall.
Wisconsin was led by sophomore guard Johnny Davis, who scored a game-high 25 points. Senior forward Tyler Wahl added 12 points and 10 rebounds, and senior guard Brad Davison chipped in with 11 points.
Michigan was led by junior guard Eli Brooks, who scored 15 points. Freshman forward Caleb Houstan added 12 points, and sophomore guard Frankie Collins chipped in with 10 points.
The Badgers took control of the game early, building a 10-point lead in the first half. They led 32-22 at halftime.
Michigan cut the lead to five points early in the second half, but Wisconsin responded with a 10-0 run to put the game away.
The Badgers' victory clinched the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, which will be held March 8-12 at the United Center in Chicago.
Wisconsin will face the No. 8 seed in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 9.
