VIDEO: California Theme Park Riders Suspended in Air for Over 2 Hours
Six Flags Magic Mountain evacuated riders from the Twisted Colossus roller coaster on Sunday after they became stranded in mid-air.
The incident occurred at around 4:30 p.m. when the ride's train stalled just after the first hill. Riders were left suspended upside down for over two hours while park staff worked to get them down safely.
No injuries were reported, but some riders said they experienced dizziness and nausea.
The park has not yet released any information about what caused the ride to stall. However, the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) is investigating the incident.
Twisted Colossus is one of the most popular rides at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
It is a hybrid roller coaster that combines elements of a wooden coaster and a steel coaster. The ride features a 120-foot drop and reaches speeds of up to 70 miles per hour.
This is not the first time that riders have been stranded on Twisted Colossus.
In 2018, the ride was evacuated after a train became stuck on the first hill. In 2015, the ride was closed for several hours after a train derailed.
Six Flags Magic Mountain has a good safety record.
The park has not had any major accidents in recent years. However, the park has been cited by Cal/OSHA for several safety violations in the past.
The park is cooperating with the Cal/OSHA investigation.
Six Flags Magic Mountain has not released any information about when Twisted Colossus will reopen.
