Two Killed and One Critically Hurt in New York Knife Attacks

Suspect in custody, motive unknown

Two people were killed and one was critically injured in a series of knife attacks in New York City on Saturday, police said. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Muhammad Anwar, was taken into custody shortly after the attacks. The motive for the attacks is still unknown.

The attacks began at around 11:30 a.m. in the Inwood neighborhood of Manhattan. Anwar allegedly stabbed a 60-year-old man to death on Sherman Avenue. He then walked to Dyckman Street and stabbed a 55-year-old woman to death. A 29-year-old man was also stabbed and is in critical condition.

Anwar was arrested by police a short time later. He has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. He is being held without bail.

The attacks have shocked the city and raised concerns about public safety. Mayor Eric Adams has vowed to crack down on crime and has increased police presence in the city.
