The crazed knifeman, identified as 19-year-old Muhammad Aziz, told investigators he was homeless and confessed to the bloody attacks, sources said.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is expected to announce charges against Aziz on Tuesday as police continue searching for a possible accomplice, sources said.
Cops said the first attack happened around 11 p.m. near the Museum of Modern Art.
A 32-year-old man was repeatedly stabbed in the back and died from his injuries at Bellevue
Hospital, cops said.
Just over an hour later, a 24-year-old woman was stabbed repeatedly in the back and buttocks on East 58th Street near Third
Avenue.
She was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she is in critical condition, cops said.
The third victim, a 52-year-old man, was stabbed multiple times at East 52nd Street near Second Avenue just before 1 a.m.
He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he died from his injuries, cops said.
Police believe the killer may have had an accomplice during the first two attacks, sources said.
Aziz was arrested a few blocks from the third crime scene.
