Structure falls from roof of NFL stadium ahead of game
Debris landed on unoccupied area, no injuries reported
Investigation underway into cause of collapse
A structure fell from the roof of the National Football League (NFL) stadium in Arlington, Texas, ahead of the game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, October 16, 2022.
The structure, which was part of the stadium's retractable roof, fell onto an unoccupied area of the stands.
No injuries were reported, and the game was not delayed.
The cause of the collapse is under investigation.
The NFL released a statement saying that it is working with the stadium operator to investigate the incident.
"The safety of our fans is our top priority," the NFL said. "We are grateful that no one was injured in this incident."
The Dallas Cowboys also released a statement saying that they are cooperating with the investigation.
"We are relieved that no one was injured in this incident," the Cowboys said. "We are working with the NFL and the stadium operator to investigate the cause of the collapse."
The stadium, which opened in 2009, is home to the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers baseball team.
The retractable roof is one of the stadium's most distinctive features.
It is made up of two panels that can be opened or closed in less than 12 minutes.
The roof has been closed for all Cowboys games this season due to the heat.
