Shyne’s Lawyer Accuses Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs of Bribing Witness to Get Acquittal
A witness who testified on behalf of the music mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs has admitted to lying under oath as part of a deal reached between prosecutors and the witness.
Combs’ lawyer is arguing this is a sign Combs is facing double jeopardy.
In a Manhattan courtroom on Tuesday, a witness for the music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs admitted to lying under oath as part of a deal reached between prosecutors and the witness, Lawrence “Larry” Campbell.
Campbell testified on behalf of Combs in his 2001 trial. During the trial, Combs was facing gun possession and bribery charges stemming from a shooting at a Manhattan nightclub.
Campbell initially testified that he saw Combs holding a gun, but later admitted that he lied and that he did not see Combs with a gun. Campbell also admitted that he was paid $20,000 to lie. Prosecutors had agreed not to charge Campbell with perjury if he admitted to lying and testified truthfully in Combs’ retrial.
