Sam Hartman Announces Plans to Unpack
Former Wake Forest Quarterback to Enter Transfer Portal
Former Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman announced on Monday that he will enter the transfer portal. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound signal-caller is one of the most dynamic and promising quarterbacks in the country. In 2022, he led the Demon Deacons to an 8-5 record, throwing for 3,435 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions while also rushing for 478 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Hartman Cited Desire to Compete at Highest Level
Hartman said in a statement that he made the decision to transfer "to explore my options and find the best fit for my future." He also expressed a desire to compete at the highest level.
"I believe that I have the potential to be an elite quarterback, and I want to put myself in a position to reach that potential," Hartman said. "I'm excited about the opportunity to explore my options and find the best fit for me."
Interest Expected From Top Programs
Hartman is expected to receive interest from some of the top programs in the country. He is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the transfer portal and has the potential to be an immediate starter for a contender.
Hartman's decision to transfer is a big development for Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons are losing their starting quarterback and one of their most dynamic playmakers. He will be difficult to replace, and Wake Forest will need to find a new quarterback to lead their offense in 2023.
