Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal trained with me - there was one massive difference
How I found myself at the Swiss maestro's tennis academy and fell in love with a different Roger
I was just 11 years old when I first met Roger Federer. I was lucky enough to be invited to train at his academy in Switzerland, and I was immediately struck by his presence. He was so humble and down-to-earth, and he took the time to talk to me and give me advice. I was also impressed by his work ethic. He was always the first one on the court and the last one to leave, and he never gave up on a point.
I spent a week training at the academy, and I learned a lot about tennis and about myself. I learned that anything is possible if you work hard and never give up. I also learned that it's important to enjoy the journey, and not just focus on the destination.
After I left the academy, I knew that I wanted to become a professional tennis player. I worked hard and eventually achieved my dream. I played on the ATP Tour for several years, and I even won a few tournaments.
One big difference
But there was one big difference between me and Roger Federer. He was a natural talent, and I was not. I had to work twice as hard as he did to achieve the same results.
But I didn't mind. I loved the game of tennis, and I was willing to put in the work. I knew that I would never be as good as Roger Federer, but I was determined to be the best that I could be.
I'm now retired from professional tennis, but I still play the game for fun. I'm also a coach, and I love helping other people achieve their tennis goals.
I'm grateful for the opportunity to have met Roger Federer and to have trained with him at his academy. He is a true inspiration, and he has helped me to become a better player and a better person.
