Riders Stuck in Mid-Air at California Amusement Park
Guests Left Dangle Upside Down for Over an Hour
Knott's Berry Farm Ride Malfunctions, Leaving Visitors Stranded
Buena Park, Calif. - Visitors to Knott's Berry Farm were left stranded in mid-air for over an hour on Sunday after a ride malfunctioned, leaving them hanging upside down. The incident occurred on the Xcelerator, a high-speed roller coaster that reaches speeds of up to 82 miles per hour.
According to witnesses, the ride came to a sudden stop shortly after it left the station, leaving the train suspended upside down. Firefighters were called to the scene and used a ladder truck to rescue the riders.
No injuries were reported, but several riders said they were shaken by the experience. "I thought I was going to die," said one rider. "I was so scared."
The cause of the malfunction is under investigation. Knott's Berry Farm has closed the Xcelerator until further notice.
This is not the first time that the Xcelerator has malfunctioned. In 2018, the ride was closed for several months after a similar incident.
Knott's Berry Farm is one of the most popular amusement parks in California. It is home to over 100 rides and attractions.
