Rain is on the way with severe weather alert issued
Get prepared: severe weather alert issued
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe weather alert for our area. The alert is in effect until 10 p.m. tonight and includes the possibility of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and possible tornadoes.
The NWS recommends that you take the following precautions:
- Stay indoors and away from windows.
- If you are outside, seek shelter in a sturdy building.
- Have a battery-powered radio and flashlight on hand.
- If you see a tornado, take cover immediately.
Rain is on the way
In addition to the severe weather alert, the NWS is also predicting heavy rain for our area. The rain is expected to start this afternoon and continue through tonight.
The NWS recommends that you take the following precautions:
- Do not drive through flooded areas.
- If you must drive, slow down and be aware of your surroundings.
- Be aware of the possibility of flash flooding.
