Channel One has announced the premiere date of its new adaptation of Yulian Semyonov's novel, "Противостояние." The 12-episode historical drama will air on Monday, September 25th at 9 PM.

The novel, originally published in 1973, follows a group of Soviet WWII veterans who join forces to fight against a terrorist group planning to launch attacks during the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

The new adaptation stars Vladimir Mashkov, Sergei Garmash, and Maria Mironova.

Yulian Semyonov's "Противостояние" was first published in 1973 and quickly became one of the most popular Soviet novels of the period.
