Poland's Pre-Scotland Nightmare: Selfies With Ronaldo & 'Beyond Amateurish' Error
Ronaldo adds pre-Scotland headache for Poland boss Michniewicz
Robert Lewandowski is the talisman of this Poland team, but Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is giving coach Czeslaw Michniewicz an unwanted headache ahead of his team's Nations League clash with Scotland.
Poland travel to Hampden Park looking to finally get their Nations League campaign up and running after suffering a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Belgium in their Group B opener last month.
But Michniewicz must contend with unwanted off-field distractions after a number of his key players posted pictures on social media of themselves posing with Ronaldo following Wednesday's friendly in Chorzow.
'Beyond amateurish'
Defender Kamil Glik and midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak were among those to share selfies with the Manchester United forward on their respective Instagram accounts.
And former Poland international Roman Kosecki has slammed the duo's actions, labelling them "beyond amateurish".
"The behaviour of some of our players after the game was beyond amateurish," Kosecki told Polish TV station TVP Sport.
"They should be 100 per cent focused on preparing for the game against Scotland, not taking selfies with Ronaldo.
"It's a lack of respect for the shirt and the fans."
Michniewicz must avoid distractions
Michniewicz will be desperate to avoid any more distractions as he prepares his team for the trip to Glasgow.
The 52-year-old has been in charge for just two games, but he has already come under pressure following the heavy defeat to Belgium.
A positive result against Scotland is essential if he is to keep his job.
Away woes continue?
Poland have a poor recent record away from home, having won just one of their last six matches on the road.
They will be hoping to end that run against a Scotland side who have also struggled for form in recent months.
Steve Clarke's men have lost four of their last five matches, including a 3-0 defeat to Ukraine in their Nations League opener.
Conclusion
The stakes are high for both Poland and Scotland in this match, with both teams desperate to get their Nations League campaigns back on track.
Poland will be hoping that the off-field distractions do not prove too costly, while Scotland will be looking to take advantage of their opponents' recent away woes.
It promises to be a fascinating encounter.
