Plane Stuck at Portuguese Airport Due to Mass Hamster Escape
A plane scheduled to depart from Faro Airport in Portugal was delayed for several hours on Tuesday after a large number of hamsters escaped from their cages during a stopover.
The hamsters, which were being transported as cargo, managed to break out of their containers and scattered throughout the plane's hold.
According to airport staff, the hamsters were discovered scurrying around the plane's cargo hold by a member of the ground crew. The crew member alerted the plane's captain, who then made the decision to delay the flight until the hamsters could be recaptured.
Airport staff and passengers worked together to search for the escaped hamsters, using nets and boxes to try and catch them. The hamsters proved to be elusive, however, and the search continued for several hours.
Eventually, all of the hamsters were recaptured and the plane was able to depart for its destination. The delay caused inconvenience to passengers, but no one was injured in the incident.
The incident is a reminder of the importance of proper animal transport procedures. When animals are being transported, it is important to make sure that they are securely contained and that there is no risk of them escaping.
Here are some additional details about the incident:
- The plane was operated by the low-cost airline Ryanair.
- The hamsters were being transported from Lisbon to London.
- There were approximately 100 hamsters on board the plane.
- The hamsters were all safely recaptured and there were no injuries.
