"Over-priced Ravindra Jadeja, gold dust retention of Matheesha Pathirana": Aakash Chopra on CSK's retentions for IPL 2025

Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali, and Ruturaj Gaikwad among the retentions
Former India opener Aakash Chopra has given his take on Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) retentions for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Auction.
CSK retained 18 players, including the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali, and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Chopra believes that while CSK has retained some quality players, they may have overpaid for some.
"Ravindra Jadeja is a very good player, but I think he is a bit overpriced," Chopra said on his YouTube channel. "I would not have paid more than INR 12 crore for him."
Chopra also praised CSK for retaining Matheesha Pathirana, a young Sri Lankan fast bowler. He believes that Pathirana could be a valuable asset for CSK in the future.
"Matheesha Pathirana is a gold dust retention," Chopra said. "He is a young player with a lot of potential. I think he could be a very good bowler for CSK in the future."
Overall, Chopra believes that CSK has made some good retentions, but they may have overpaid for some players. He also believes that Pathirana could be a valuable asset for CSK in the future.
