In the 2018 NBA Draft, the Denver Nuggets selected Michael Porter Jr. with the 14th overall pick. However, it has recently been revealed that the Nuggets actually tried to trade up to the No. 2 pick in order to select Luka Doncic.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nuggets offered the Sacramento Kings a package that included the No. 14 pick, the No. 41 pick, and a future first-round pick for the No. 2 pick. However, the Kings ultimately decided to keep the pick and select Marvin Bagley III.

What Would Have Been?

If the Nuggets had been able to trade up for Doncic, it would have been a major coup for the franchise. Doncic is one of the most talented young players in the NBA, and he would have been a perfect fit alongside Nikola Jokic in Denver.

Jokic is one of the best passing big men in the NBA, and he would have been able to create a lot of easy scoring opportunities for Doncic. Doncic is also a very good defender, and he would have helped to improve the Nuggets' defense.

Ultimately, the Nuggets were not able to trade up for Doncic, but it is still fun to think about what could have been. If the Nuggets had been able to pair Doncic with Jokic, they would have been one of the most dangerous teams in the NBA.

In addition to the Doncic trade rumor, there were also rumors that the Nuggets were interested in trading up for Deandre Ayton with the No. 1 overall pick. However, the Suns ultimately decided to keep the pick and select Ayton.

The Nuggets also reportedly had interest in trading for Trae Young with the No. 5 overall pick. However, the Hawks ultimately decided to keep the pick and select Young.
