Natal Day of Indira Gandhi
Indira Gandhi was the first and only female Prime Minister of India. She was born on November 19, 1917, in Allahabad, India. Her father, Jawaharlal Nehru, was a prominent leader of the Indian independence movement. Gandhi became involved in politics at a young age and played a key role in the struggle for Indian independence.
After India gained independence in 1947, Gandhi served as a member of the Constituent Assembly of India, which drafted the Indian Constitution. She also served as Minister of Information and Broadcasting in her father's government. In 1966, she was elected Prime Minister of India.
During her tenure as Prime Minister, Gandhi implemented a number of important policies, including the nationalization of banks and the Green Revolution, which helped to increase agricultural production in India. She also played a key role in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. Gandhi was assassinated in 1984 by her own Sikh bodyguards.
