Stamford, Connecticut Fire Department Responds to Multiple Explosion Reports
Loud explosions shook North Stamford early Sunday morning, prompting an investigation by the Stamford Fire Department.
According to the Stamford Fire Department, multiple explosions were reported in the area of Strawberry Hill Avenue and Rockrimmon Road around 1:30 a.m. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find a large fire and debris scattered across the street.
The fire department is still investigating the cause of the explosions, but they believe it may have been caused by a gas leak. Eversource, the local gas utility, has been called to the scene to assist with the investigation.
There were no reported injuries as a result of the explosions, but several homes and businesses in the area were damaged. The fire department is asking residents in the area to stay away from the scene as they continue their investigation.
