Local mail carrier delivers holiday cheer to Santa Rosa community
Local mail carrier's life-long dream comes true when he's assigned to deliver mail in childhood neighborhood
A dedicated public servant who loves his job and cares deeply for the community he serves.
Growing up in the Coffey Park neighborhood of Santa Rosa, Michael Dal Cerro dreamed of one day working for the United States Postal Service and delivering mail on Corrigan Street, where he spent his childhood.
After 26 years with the USPS, his dream finally came true last month when he was promoted to regular carrier and assigned to a route that includes his old stomping grounds.
"It was one of the best feelings ever. As I was casing the mail and getting ready for my first day, I looked at the names on the mail and I saw a lot of the names of my friends growing up and a lot of the teachers that I had," Dal Cerro said.

In addition to his work with the USPS, Dal Cerro is also active in the community. He is a member of the Coffey Park Neighborhood Association and the Santa Rosa Kiwanis Club, and volunteers his time at the Redwood Gospel Mission and the Boys & Girls Club of Sonoma County.
"I love my job and I love my community," Dal Cerro said. "I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to serve both."
