Around 4:20 p.m., Jackson Township police were attempting to serve a warrant at the apartment complex in the 4900 block of Everhard Road NW after learning that a wanted man was inside.

Police said the man, later identified as Keon Rashad Williams, 34, of Canton, fired at officers as they approached him, striking one officer once in the leg and grazing another. Williams then ran out of the apartment and into the parking lot, where Canton police officers were waiting. Canton officers exchanged gunfire with Williams, who was able to get into a vehicle and flee the scene.

The two officers who were struck by gunfire were taken to a nearby hospital. The officer who was shot in the leg is in stable condition, while the other officer was treated and released.

Police said Williams was wanted on multiple felony warrants, including weapons charges.

The United States Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of Williams.

Anyone with information is asked to call the U.S. Marshals Service at 1-866-4WANTED or the Canton Police Department at 330-489-3144.
