Former Bulls 3-time All-Star Bob Love dies at 81
Chicago Bulls legend and three-time NBA All-Star Bob Love passed away at the age of 81 on January 22, 2023. Love was a key member of the Bulls' first championship team in 1975.
Love was born in Bastrop, Louisiana, in 1942. He played college basketball at Southern Illinois University before being drafted by the Cincinnati Royals in the first round of the 1965 NBA draft. Love played for the Royals for two seasons before being traded to the Bulls in 1967.
Love quickly became a star in Chicago, averaging 20.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game in his first season with the Bulls. He was named to the NBA All-Star team three times (1971, 1972, and 1973) and was a member of the Bulls' first championship team in 1975.
Love retired from the NBA in 1977 after 11 seasons. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993.
