Dylan Horton Swapped with Cowboys
Houston Texans defensive end Dylan Horton traded to Dallas Cowboys
The Houston Texans sent defensive end Dylan Horton to the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
Horton spent the first three seasons of his career in Houston and started all 17 games he played in the last two seasons.
He has recorded 1.5 sacks, 12 tackles (8 solo), and 4 quarterback hits over the last two seasons.
The Cowboys made the deal after losing DeMarcus Lawrence to injury and need depth on their defensive line.
Horton will provide that depth and could compete for a starting role in Dallas.
The Texans received the 232nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which will become a sixth-round pick if Horton plays 50% of the Cowboys' defensive snaps in 2023.
It becomes a seventh-round pick if Horton plays less than that, but Horton is expected to compete for a starting job.
The trade is a good move for both teams.
The Texans add a draft pick and get rid of a player who was not in their long-term plans.
The Cowboys add a young, talented player who can help them on their defensive line.
