Deputy Khamzaev transferred to another committee
Changes in the leadership of the Federation Council's Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management
Aleksey Khamzaev, who was appointed to the post of deputy chairman of the Federation Council in October 2021, has been relieved of his post as chairman of the Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management.
The corresponding decision was made at a meeting of the Federation Council on December 28, 2022. The new head of the committee was Mikhail Shchetinin, who previously served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia.
Khamzaev's resignation from the post of committee chairman is likely due to his new position as deputy chairman of the Federation Council. The deputy chairman of the Federation Council is responsible for coordinating the work of the Federation Council, including the work of its committees, and for representing the Federation Council in relations with other state bodies and organizations.
Shchetinin's appointment as chairman of the committee is due to his extensive experience in the field of agriculture. As Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia, Shchetinin was responsible for the development and implementation of state policy in the field of agriculture, food security, and the development of rural areas.
The transfer of Khamzaev to another committee and the appointment of Shchetinin as chairman of the Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management are aimed at strengthening the work of the Federation Council in the field of agriculture and food security.
