Athletics’ Seth Brown: Out again versus southpaw

Brown, who has been struggling versus left-handed pitching in 2023, will sit out Saturday’s game against the Mariners

Athletics’ outfielder Seth Brown will miss his second consecutive game on Saturday when the team faces the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park.

The left-handed hitting Brown is just 1-for-12 with six strikeouts against left-handed pitchers this season.

Brown sat out Friday’s 3-0 loss to the Mariners.

The A’s are hoping to avoid a third straight loss against the Mariners on Saturday.

Oakland has lost four of its last five games and is now 13-17 on the season.

Brown is hitting .230/.305/.363 with three homers and 13 RBIs in 30 games this year.

The 29-year-old is in his second season with the A’s after spending the first five years of his career with the Athletics.

Brown played in just eight games after the All-Star break in 2022 due to a hand injury.

Brown is expected to return to the lineup on Sunday when the A’s wrap up their three-game series in Seattle.

The A’s will then head to Los Angeles for a three-game series against the Angels.

Brown will be counted on to be a key part of the A’s offense in 2023.

The A’s are hoping that Brown can return to the form he showed in 2021 when he hit .282/.353/.513 with 20 homers and 66 RBIs.
