Asheville Water Quality Restored, Tests Confirm
The boil water notice for Asheville, North Carolina has been lifted, as water quality tests confirm the water is safe to drink. The notice was issued on August 19, 2023, after a water main break contaminated the water supply with E. coli bacteria.
The city immediately began flushing the water lines and collecting samples for testing. The results, which came back on August 21, 2023, showed that the water is now free of E. coli and meets all federal and state drinking water standards.
