20 Structures Threatened as Crews Battle Multi-Acre Wildfire in Hainesport

Intense Firefighters Working to Contain Blaze

HAINESPORT, N.J. — Firefighters from multiple departments across Burlington County are battling a wildfire threatening 20 structures Friday afternoon, according to emergency responders.

Residents Asked to Avoid Area

The blaze began around 12:30 p.m. in the area of Church Road and Martin Avenue in Hainesport and has since spread to cover about 10 acres.

Smoke from the fire can be seen for miles around, prompting the National Weather Service to issue an air quality alert for Burlington and Ocean counties.

Evacuations Underway

Residents in the immediate area have been evacuated, and multiple roads have been closed. The American Red Cross has set up a shelter for evacuees at the Hainesport Fire Department on Marne Highway.

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire, but the Burlington County Fire Marshal is investigating.
